(12062020)Xin Jin Shan Chinese Language and Culture School Principal’s Message

Principal’s Message

Dear teachers, students and parents,

Term 2 is coming to an end soon and for most campuses Term 2 would finish on 20/21 June except for Noble Park and Brighton campuses where Term 2 finishes on 27/28 June. I would like to thank all the teachers, students and parents for their consistent contribution and support to our Chinese language and culture learning at this very difficult time.

Due to the late commencement and early finish of Term 1 during the hit of COVID-19, we now decide to start Term 3 earlier than usual. Thus, Term 3 would start from 11/12 July and finish on 19/20 September with 11 weeks in total to make up all the classes missed.

Considering the health and safety of our multicultural communities, the DET has decided that all the community language schools would keep on online learning in Term 3. VCE 11 and 12 students would go back to school as the first stage and the next steps would be arranged once the COVID-19 alert is eased. The health of our teachers and students are always our first priority. Although our teachers have fully prepared for going back to school, we have to follow the instructions of DET making sure the learning environment is safe for all the community members. I believe we will see each other again on campus very soon and I will inform you any update once there are any new instructions from DET.

From this coming Sunday (14 June), 870 students would participate in the Online Chinese Culture Camp which is also the most participated activity in the history of our school. This is not only the first time that students join the Chinese Culture Camp by listening Chinese history and culture stories online, it is also the first time that parents could join their children in the event sharing the experience of Chinese language and culture learning. We encourage all the parents to participate the event actively with their children within the two weeks and hope they could win the chance of joining the Chinese Culture Camp in China in the future.

I would like to remind you that this event is free of charge according to the requirement of the Chinese organizers. 870 students would be placed in 34 classes with one volunteer teacher in each class sending Chinese story audios every day to students and comment the tasks students have submitted every day. Therefore, it would be much appreciated if parents could present respect and support to all these volunteer teachers during the event.

I wish all the participants enjoy your experience and accomplish all your learning tasks successfully in this online Chinese Culture Camp.

See you this weekend.

Best regards,

Kevin Hu, Principal
